On August 15th, 2011 at 19:00 Station 6 filled the apparatus heading to the drill house on Swedesford Rd. in West Whiteland Township. The Firefighters agenda for the night was the process of being apart of a RIT (Rapid Intervention Team). A RIT team is a team of two or more firefighters whose sole purpose is to stay outside of the building up until activated by a firefighter in distress. Captain 6 rotated 3 groups of 4 firefighters into the building to help the downed Firefighter at the end of the hoseline. Through a simulated collapsed ceiling as well as a few other obstacles, everyone learned how they could reduce their own body profile for the task at hand.

Bucks County Community College hosted the Certification testing for the 40 hour course of "Structural Collapse 1 Rescue Technician" at the West Chester Fire Training Center. Two Members from our station joined the Fame Fire Company and their on-going rescue certification process to further their knowledge as rescue technicians. Although these types of calls dont happen as often as the general fire alarm, these are the types of calls where you need to know the book and have a little bit of finesse to safely get the job done.
Station 6 members would like to thank the Fame Fire Company for allowing us to take part in their training.
Congrats to Mark Vitanza Jr. and Steve Bahnatka for their newest certification.
