“Pennsylvania has around 2,300 volunteer fire departments, making up 96 percent of fire coverage in the state, according to a 2014 legislative report. Those departments are staffed by an estimated 50,000 to 70,000 firefighters, compared with the nearly 300,000 volunteers who made up the fire service in the 1970s”. (The Morning Call - See link below)

Volunteer Firefighters are:
- Unpaid - Highly qualified professionals
- On call 24/7 - 365 days
- ONLY 0.4 percent of PA’s population or 1 out of 256
- Your first and last line of defense for any tragic event (from vehicle accident to house fire to large scale incidents)
- Your neighbor, your friend, your colleague, a family member
- Proud to serve the community
