MULTI COMPANY DRILL NIGHT!
Monday evening, The West Whiteland Fire Company, The Lionville Fire Company, and The East Brandywine Fire Company all participated together for drill night in an acquired structure within the township. Crews from all companies preformed several different evolutions during the night. Ladder 49 and Tower 47 were used to set up the roof ventilation portion of the drills. Teams practice different and proper techniques to cut the roof during the event of a house or commercial fire.
Simultaneously crews inside the structure went through the building practicing firefighter survival techniques. Members were blindfolded and sent through a maze using a hose line to find their way out. Crews worked as a team breaching their way through walls, narrow openings, over/under and around objects and furniture all while insuring all members of their team made their way safely back outside.
Minutes after drill concluded all companies were dispatched to the 200 block of Autumn Dr Uwchlan Township for a house fire. No fire was found just a malfunctioning water heater and all companies quickly cleared.
At 9:28AM Tuesday morning, West Whiteland was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 700 block of Springdale Drive, one vehicle was fully involved and quickly extinguished.
The team at West Whiteland has handled 4 other emergencies since Monday morning. |
